Auburn assistant coach Chuck Person and former NBA official Rashan Michel became the first two men indicted as part of the FBI’s investigation into the bribery of college basketball recruits, when a federal grand jury in New York charged them each on six counts on Tuesday. The charges include conspiracy to commit bribery, solicitation of bribes and gratuities, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, honest services wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and travel act conspiracy. Together, they carry a sentence of up to 80 years in federal prison. The indictment accuses Person of accepting at least $91,500 in bribes in return for influencing Auburn players to work with business managers and retain the services of Michel—who is now a suit maker—when they went pro. According to ESPN, the other men who have been arrested in this probe—including coaches from Oklahoma State, USC, and Arizona—are expected to be indicted as early as Wednesday.
